 Learn How to Cook Corn on the Cob

Nothing compares to the sweet taste of fresh corn on the cob with butter, salt, and pepper.  The only trouble with cooking corn on the cob is that it requires some preparation on your part.

To begin, select ears of corn that are fresh and plump.  Peel back the corn husk and look at the kernels.  Puncture a corn kernel with your fingernail and see if white juice squirts out.  That mans you have corn that is going to be sweet and delicious.  Do not buy corn that is slimy or dried out because this corn is past it's prime.

How to Cook Corn on the Cob:

Prepare a large pot on the stove with hot salted water.  Do not fill to the top with water, as you will need room for your corn.
Strip the husks away from the ears of corn.
Remove any of the fine silks that are running lengthwise along the corn cob by rolling the corn back in forth in your hands.
Cut each ear of corn in equal halves crosswise.
When your salted water is boiling, add corn one piece at a time until all of the corn on the cob is in the pot.
Cook corn on the cob for 20 minutes and then remove one piece to check for doneness.  This is done by piercing the kernels with a fork and seeing if they are tender.  You can also let that piece of corn cool off for a minute and take a bite to make sure it is tender enough for you.
When your corn on the cob is tender, remove it from the pot and drain each piece on a kitchen towel.
Slather your cooked corn on the cob with butter and season with salt and pepper.
